Mudzy: Mudzy breaks a leg
13-week-old Mudzy was the unfortunate victim of a building site accident when a heavy piece of wood fell on his hind leg fracturing it in several places. The border collie's injury required complicated orthopaedic surgery which was performed by veterinary surgeon Dr Alan Bolton.
The surgery required a great deal of technique and dexterity given the relatively soft and unformed nature of the pup's bones. Dr Alan Bolton fixed a specially constructed external frame to the pup's tibia to ensure it healed with the correct alignment.
Alan has been with the Lost Dogs' Home Vet Clinic for nearly 5 years and enjoys being able to help both shelter animals and those owned by private clients.
"I feel a great sense of satisfaction from being able to provide care to lost, abandoned and abused animals as well as the privately owned pets that come to through the surgery," said Dr Bolton.
"It is extremely rewarding to see a sick or injured animal adopted into a caring family after we return them to health", he said.
