Dr Graeme Smith responds to the Herald Sun report

A report in today’s Herald Sun newspaper listed municipal pounds as a source of dogs for animal experiments.

Data from the Bureau of Animal Welfare (BAW) shows that out of the 1250 dogs supplied to research facilities in Victoria, 182 came from pounds.

“We provide pound services to 14 Victorian Councils and we do not sell or supply any research facility with dogs or cats.” stated Managing Director, Dr Graeme Smith, OAM.
