Free Post Adoption Training

A FREE, private lesson for dogs adopted from The Lost Dogs' Home and their new families.

Take advantage of this free service offered by The Lost Dogs' Home to ensure the furry addition to your family makes a smooth transition into your home. This one hour lesson is a good opportunity to discuss any concerns you may have with a qualified and experienced dog trainer.

Puppy Pre-school

Essential socialisation and basic training for puppies aged 6 to 14
weeks old.

Optimum learning and socialisation in dogs occurs between 6 and 14 weeks old. Puppy Pre-school will help ensure you raise an obedient, well-tempered and friendly dog. You will learn positive reinforcement methods for basic obedience and toilet training. Classes are conducted by highly qualified Planet K9 trainers.

Basic Manners Course

The focus of this class is on practical training and problem
solving.

Basic manners taught include:

  • Greeting visitors nicely (rather than jumping up)
  • Heel past another dog
  • Greeting other dogs calmly on leash
  • Go to your mat
  • Increasing attention focus
  • Come when called
  • Sit and lie down
  • Walk on a loose leash
  • Stand to be examined (groomed)
  • Basic Tricks
  • Confidence course (tunnels, bridges, hurdles, etc.)
  • Sit and drop stay
  • Problem solving (barking, chewing, digging, etc.)

Advanced Obedience Course

Extend on existing dog training to reach an advanced level.

In this course you will learn how to teach your dog:

  • On and off leash heeling
  • Stop on recall
  • Recall with distractions
  • Extended stays
  • Object retrieval on the flat and over obstacles
  • Directed jumping
  • Stand for examination
  • Speak (bark) on cue
  • Non-verbal distance control

Agility Racing

A class for active dogs and their owners!

Your dog learns to negotiate a series of obstacles within minimum time. Agility training encourages teamwork between dog and handler. Agility classes are offered for both beginners and advanced dogs.

K9 All Sports

An action-packed class designed for the 'all-rounder'.

It is recommended that you and your dog have at least undertaken…. before joining this class which includes:

  • Flyball
  • Agility

Flyball is a popular team sport for dogs who love to run, jump and chase balls.

Behaviour Modification

The secure dog training facilities at The Lost Dogs' Home enable Planet K9 trainers to work with anxious and or aggressive dogs in a safe and controlled environment. Head trainer, Nicole Beasley, has 11 years experience using a gentle and effective training method to deal with a broad range of behavioural problems in dogs. She has a particular interest in rescued and rehomed dogs and often works in conjunction with The Lost Dogs' Home veterinary team to modify behaviour in troubled dogs.

The experienced team at The Lost Dogs' Home Veterinary Clinic offer clinical solutions to behvioural issues in dogs and cats. Prescribed treatment in conjunction with positive reinforcement training is the best approach.

Small Paws Playgroup

A monthly social event for small, friendly dogs under 10kg.

Play is so important for the social development of dogs. Small Paws Playgroup enables small dogs to play with other small dogs in a safe and friendly environment.

Dogs must complete a Planet K9 training course before joining the Small Paws gang.
